GAME OF THRONES--WINTER IS COMING...THOUGHTS

No worries to those who have not watched yet...there will be no spoilers.  I just could not contain myself regarding the magnificence of this show.  HBO has truly done it again.  I started reading the first book in George R. R. Martin's beloved series, A Song of Ice and Fire, last weekend.  I'm about 200 pages in and this book has been very hard for me to put down.  I was happy to discover tonight that the first season on HBO will cover the first book only.  As I stated, I'm 200 pages in and I'm already well past what transpired in the first episode so I will be able to stay ahead of the television series very easily in my reading.  I'm also happy to report that the series (the first episode anyway) was very close to the book.  Visually stunning and with stellar performances by the actors, I highly recommend you check this series out.  Also, if you haven't read the book(s), what are you waiting for?  I can't believe it took me this long to discover these books and I owe a bow of gratitude to HBO and their show for sparking my interest.  Let's hope the series will lead some non-readers to the books as well.

I apologize for word verification, but I turned it off and had close to 50 spam comments within 12 hours (nobody has time for that) so I had to turn it back on. Sorry!

This blog is Award Free. I appreciate your thinking of me for an award, but please know that your comments are my award. Thank you!

  1. I tried to read the book but after 100 pages gave up. I'm sure it's a wonderful book, just my mind is not "wired" for fantasy.

I do enjoy the movies though.

  2. When the season is finished, I'll buy the books. Don't want to spoil my enjoyment of the series so far. Fantasy works for me as it has many elements of historical fiction.

  3. That particular throne is a bit scary. So, it may not be up my alley. But I love this blog!

  4. Michelle - so glad that you loved this show - I thought it was great too! Unfortunately (of course) our cable went out for about 10 minutes toward the end, but at least I have read the book so I didn't miss anything. When you want something done right, give it to HBO!
