#CatThursday - #Cats in #Art (39) Mary Cassatt

Welcome to the weekly meme that celebrates the wonders and sometime hilarity of cats! Join us by posting a favorite lolcat pic you may have come across, famous cat art or even share with us pics of your own beloved cat(s). It's all for the love of cats! Since Mother's Day is coming up in less than two weeks, I thought I would feature Mary Cassatt who was known for her mother and child scenes. Sometimes these scenes featured cats. Art scholars believe their presence in her paintings were to accentuate the idea of motherhood and domesticity...or perhaps she just liked cats. Enjoy!

  1. I love them! Speaking of cats, your blog post started going crazy with the cursor bouncing all over. I thought you had some sort of virus and then I realized it was Patchouli kitty laying on a corner of keyboard!

    1. Oh dear! Our kitties are so full of mischief. So glad it wasn't a virus though. lol

  2. I love Mary Cassat. The Denver Art Museum has some of her work, and I always try to see them when I visit. Great selection today :)

  3. These are so sweet! These reminded me of myself as a child - I always had a cat on my lap :)

  4. Not keen on oil paintings, some of these are not to my taste but oh my goodness, I love the drawing of Ellen holding the cat.
