#CatThursday - Authors and Cats (58) #cats

Welcome to the weekly meme that celebrates the wonders and sometime hilarity of cats! Join us by posting a favorite LOL cat pic you may have come across, famous cat art or even share with us pics of your own beloved cat(s). It's all for the love of cats! (share your post in the Mr. Linky below)

The second Cat Thursday of each month is Authors and Cats Thursday. Each time I will feature an author with their cat(s), or pictured with a cat(s).

This month's author, whose birthday would have been January 14, 1925, is Yukio Mishima. He died November 25, 1970. Yukio Mishima was the pen name of Kimitake Hiraoka, who was a Japanese author, poet and playwright, famous for both his highly notable post-war writings and the circumstances of his ritual suicide by seppuku.

Mishima wrote 40 novels, 18 plays, 20 books of short stories, and at least 20 books of essays, one libretto, as well as one film. A large portion of this oeuvre comprises books written quickly for profit, but even if these are disregarded, a substantial body of work remains.

He was recognized as one of the most important post-war stylists of the Japanese language.

A few novels in his body of work: The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the SeaThe Temple of the Golden PavilionSpring Snow

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment. It means so much.

I apologize for word verification, but as soon as I changed the settings from only users with Google accounts, I started receiving a ton of spam comments...within one hour of changing the settings. The bots are on high alert apparently.

  1. Lovely cat eyeing his human friend. I read Spring Snow when I was in my teens, and have always meant to reread it. My brother was a big fan of Mishima, and gave me the book.

    1. I've heard of his The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea. I'm definitely going to look into reading his books, especially since you read Spring Snow. I wonder if he's on any of the book lists for my 13 Ways challenge? I'll have to check.

  2. I had never heard about this Japanese author before. Talking of another Japanese author, I've been wanting to read The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraido. Have you read it?
