Read-a-Thon Weekend!

I am participating in two read-a-thons this weekend! The Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-Thon, which started at midnight and goes through Sunday, and Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon which starts Saturday morning (7am my time) and runs, of course, for 24 hours.  Hey, can't ever miss that twice a year event. =O)

I don't really have to say too much about Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon, as we are all pretty familiar with it.  However, if you have been living in Siberia and have not heard of it, go HERE for info.  And, of course, you can still sign up! Go HERE.

Snacks
I'm very limited because of this diet I'm on, but I will be drinking plenty of flavored tea, my new favorite, vanilla caramel and perhaps a pumpkin flavor (is there such a thing?) sweetened with Equal, of course.  No sugar allowed.  I'll probably drink some coffee too.  Snacks will be peanut butter, olives, trail mix (raisins and nuts only), blueberries with Cool Whip (yes, I can have this on my diet...no carbs in Cool Whip!), peanuts, possibly barbecue pork rinds, although I'm sick to death of them, and plenty of Diet Coke, of course!

Plans and Reading Lists
On Saturday morning, I'm going to a quarterly library sale in Brentwood with Mom and we will probably catch an early lunch/brunch.  I have some movies on stand-by in case monotony sets in.  I hope I can fend off sleep.  I'm going to make a conscious effort to go to bed earlier than the norm on Friday night.

Here is my main reading list:
Anna Karenina (read-a-long catch up)
Under the Dome (read-a-long catch up)
A Discovery of Witches (read-a-long catch up)
The Forest of Hands and Teeth (from my own shelves...glory be!)
American Horror (horror short stories)
Decayed Etchings (horror short stories)
The Reindeer Keeper (for review on Rudolph Day)

Now, take a look at this pile of books. These are writing books I'm consulting in the weeks leading up to NaNoWriMo. That's right, I'm attempting it again and I'm determined to succeed this time. So, I will probably be picking up several of these during the read-a-thons. =O)

Also, Wild Mind: Living the Writer's Life by Natalie Goldberg (on my eReader from NetGalley)

My updates for both read-a-thons will be in a sticky post at the top of the blog (not sure yet if it will include mini-challenges as well).

Are you doing either read-a-thon, or both?  If so, let's make it fun, above all else!

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment. It means so much.

I apologize for word verification, but as soon as I changed the settings from only users with Google accounts, I started receiving a ton of spam comments...within one hour of changing the settings. The bots are on high alert apparently.

  1. It looks like you are all set and plan to do a ton of reading. But that's what a rad-a-thon is for, right! I will be doing a lot of reading this weekend too, but not officially signing up because this weekend is jam packed. But I do plan to stop by some blogs and cheer people along! Good luck!

  6. I'm doing both read-a-thons as well .. whew! When I saw Anna Karenina, I thought you meant to read the WHOLE book, which would definitely be a task! Just a catch up, though .. pretty cool. I liked Discovery of Witches and LOVED Under the Dome (I swear, I blew through it; I just couldn't really put it down).
Although I haven't yet read it (horrors! I know...), The Forest of Hands and Teeth should definitely keep your eyes open and wanting to read. I also love short stories for read-a-thons - they keep you going!

Good luck and have LOTS of fun!
