I knew that The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett was being made into a movie. However, I just found out last night that it is going to be a television mini-series produced by an award winning production company owned by Ridley and Tony Scott. Ridley Scott is the award winning director of Gladiator and other films. The cast line-up is stellar! If they do it right, it's going to be awesome...I can't wait!
Starring:
Ian McShane, Donald Sutherland, Hayley Atwell, Rufus Sewell, Eddie Redmayne, Matthew Macfadyen, Alison Pill, Tony Curran, Gordon Pinsent
Here is the movie site where you can watch videos of the making of the movie and a site visit by the author, Ken Follett, plus full cast bios, characters, etc. The Pillars of the Earth movie site.
WOOT...bring it on!
Yay! That's exciting news. Yay too for miniseries over feature film! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read these yet but I'd watch the series!! Probably take less time, huh? Since the books are so big. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on this! I started the book a while back and so far I really like it. I must admit I would rather not have it come out as a mini-series, mostly because those productions usually are lower in quality. But with that stellar cast, hopefully this one will be an exception!

I have not read The Pillars of The Earth as it looked so daunting every time I picked it up in the bookstores. Maybe the miniseries will help me want to read it...

I guess I'd better get to reading this one. I hate to not have read the book before I see the movie.
