48 HOUR READ-A-THON/THE BIG GAME'S ON! READ-A-THON

UPDATE

It's dual read-a-thon time! I'm also participating in Jenn's (Jenn's Bookshelves) The Big Game's On! Read-A-Thon today.  I'm still working on Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff...hoping to finish it and then finish Quicksilver by Joy Spraycar before the night's over.  We'll see how it goes!

I'm attempting to participate in Wallace's (Unputdownables) 48 hour TBR read-a-thon this weekend.  It starts...well, pretty much now, but I'm going out to eat with my family here shortly.  I am taking my first book with me to read in the car though.  Not sure how much I'll be able to read tomorrow because we may go move more stuff from the old house, if my husband and the weather cooperates! Sunday is free though...husband and sons are going to watch the Super Bowl at a friend's house so I'll be free of any disturbance, at least for part of the day anyway.  So, here is what I'm going to attempt to read this weekend:

Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff (this is one I HAVE to finish for a blog tour)
Quicksilver by Joy Spraycar (finish)
Captivity by Deborah Noyes
Dante's Journey by JC Marino
Once Wicked, Always Dead by T. Marie Benchley
The Lucifer Code by Charles Brokaw
The Half-Made World by Felix Gilman

Of course, I know I probably will not get to all of these, but they have been on my TBR stack since Fall 2010 and I really must finish them and get them reviewed.  I'm going to see how well I function on little to no sleep.  HaHa...I know my body will not cooperate.  Oh, yeah...and another thing I have to do tonight.  Hook up and install my new cable internet.  Woot! High speed, here I come!

Are you doing the read-a-thon too?

48 Hour Read-a-Thon--Wrap Up Post

Well, I didn't read as much as I had planned, but I did finish Virgin and the Crab by Robert Parry.  Wow, what a book! I loved it...which is why I didn't give up on it, but it was a pretty difficult read.  Look for my review in the next couple of days.  After finishing the Robert Parry book, I started Venetia Kelly's Traveling Show by Frank Delaney.  I got to page 100.  I'm really enjoying this one and I can tell it's going to be a fast read for me.

So...I'm pleased with myself.  Although I didn't read as much as I had planned, I do feel a certain sense of accomplishment.  I would like to thank Wallace at Unputdownables again for hosting such an awesome read-a-thon.

Next up is the Read Your Own Books Read-a-Thon hosted by Monica at The Bibliophilic Book Blog from August 13-16.  Will you be joining me on this one?  I hope so!

48 Hour Read-a-Thon--Official Start

I decided to start late since I know I will be up late Sunday to finish.  So official start...11:59 pm.  A slight change in my reading as I'm just about finished with Virgin and the Crab by Robert Parry.  Only have 88 pages to go! Then I will either start Venetia Kelly or work on The Red Door.  I'm also going to have to work on some backlogged reviews and get them posted by tomorrow.  No pressure on myself...just going to do my best.  Here goes!!!

Another 48 Hour Read-a-Thon

I know you're probably wondering why I keep doing these readathons when I fail so miserably at them.  Well, you know that motto, If at first you don't succeed...blah, blah, blah! It is true though.  I do keep trying until I get it right, but geez...you would think my love of reading would allow me to succeed! Anyway, this lovely 48 Hour Read-a-Thon is being hosted by the Unputdownables blog.  Click on the blog name to go and sign up.  Here are the details:

If You’re In:

1.Choose a few books that you will attempt to finish this weekend (Friday evening through Sunday night).

2.Post your TBR Read-a-Thon books on your blog so your readers can see what you are attempting for the weekend.

3.Challenge your readers to read along with you! (It’s OK if they don’t, but might be fun if they want to choose at least one book to participate with).

4.Join the discussion all weekend long at #bookblogchat on Twitter.

5.Post updates on your blog about what you are reading and what you have finished (full reviews can come later, but this will let your readers know what you are reading so they can either read along or look forward to your reviews!)

6.Visit other blogs that are doing the read-a-long. Post comments and follow your fellow bloggers.

7.Make sure you sign up here with Mr. Linky with a link to your first post so we can follow your progress!

8.*If you don’t have a blog but want to participate: Sign up with Mr. Linky, just don’t add a website (or you can link to your Twitter or GoodReads page).*

If You’re Not In, but Want to Support:

1.Check out the blogs that are participating below in the Mr. Linky list.
2.Visit those blogs and leave comments and encouragement
3.Add to your own TBRs as you see what others are reading!

Here is what I'll be reading:

1. The Red Door--Charles Todd
2. Venetia Kelly's Traveling Show--Frank Delaney
3. The Queen's Pawn--Christy English

My back-up list (if I should get through the first three):

1. Dracula in Love--Karen Essex
2. Under the Dome--Stephen King

So dear readers, how about joining me in my readathon craziness?!  You know, we all go a little crazy sometimes....whoooooooaaaaaahhhhh! Wish me luck. =O)
