Classics Club Spin 19 #ccspin

The 19th Classics Club Spin! I'm generally a failure at these, but my motto is...Never Give Up, Never Surrender!

Here's what you do...list 20 books from your Classics Club list before Tuesday, November 27. There's a twist this time. The Club is giving us extra time with the stipulation that we compile our list with Chunksters. They will choose a number randomly from 1 - 20 and that number is the one you will read from your list. Fun! The challenge is to read that book by January 31, 2019.

I'm not sure how many chunksters I have on my list, but I will do my best! Here's mine:
  1. Little Women, Louisa May Alcott
  2. Emma, Jane Austen
  3. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Anne Bronte
  4. The Woman in White, Wilkie Collins
  5. Roxana, Daniel Defoe
  6. Queen Margot, Alexandre Dumas
  7. Villette, Charlotte Bronte
  8. North and South, Elizabeth Gaskell
  9. The Marble Faun, Nathaniel Hawthorne
  10. The Portrait of a Lady, Henry James
  11. Buddenbrooks, Thomas Mann
  12. The Mysteries of Udolpho, Ann Radcliffe
  13. Rob Roy, Sir Walter Scott
  14. The Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck
  15. The Master of Hestviken, Sigrid Undset
  16. Ben-Hur, Lew Wallace
  17. The Age of Innocence, Edith Wharton
  18. The Golden Bowl, Henry James
  19. The French Lieutenant's Woman, John Fowles
  20. Mansfield Park, Jane Austen

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment. It means so much.

I apologize for word verification, but as soon as I changed the settings from only users with Google accounts, I started receiving a ton of spam comments...within one hour of changing the settings. The bots are on high alert apparently.

  1. A nice variety, and many favourites of mine. I have read half of the books. Buddenbrooks is fantastic and a real chunkster book. Brontës, Austen and James are always favourites, as is Wilkie Collins. Good luck and hope you get a good one.

  2. My goodness that is quite a list.

I must say that of your choices rather unusually for the book is rather MUCH better than the film I thought several of these were much better films than they were novels.

  3. Always love to see so many Jane Austen's on one list! If no. 1 spins our way we will share Louisa May Alcott, except that mine is a bio about her and her father. And it's a bit of a cheat for me too - I started it about 2 yrs ago but it has such small font, that I put it aside about halfway through. I need to finish it, so I've put it on my list as a prompt to get on with it regardless what spins up :-)

    Good luck

    1. I have a couple of cheats on mine...Villette and French Lieutenant's Woman. I started them both some time ago, but didn't get far. lol

      Good luck to you too!

  5. Mansfield Park is still on my list after three attempts! I end up going to the movie after the first 100 pages. It's the only Austen I can't seem to chug through! I'm still working my way through War and Peace and will do well to get that one done by the end of the year!

    1. I have not attempted Mansfield Park. The film version with Frances O'Connor and Jonny Lee Miller is one of my favorites. I seem to have a problem getting through Northanger Abbey. Imagine that!

War and Peace. *hangs head in shame* I have given up for the time being. I've decided to put the Lit Collective group on hiatus until I figure out what I want to do with it. I think I just have too much on my plate.

    2. I struggled too, but wanted to get through. A charter a day was my solution, and I finally made it. The same koncept I utse for Charlotte Bronte’s Shirley. Although a fan of bott writers, these tio books are not in the same league as their rest.
