HISTORICAL FICTION CONNECTION NEWS, ETC.

As some of you may already know, I co-host a historical fiction blog with Marie (The Burton Review) called Historical Fiction Connection.  We host authors for guest posts, giveaways, and interviews, but we are also looking for bloggers who are passionate about history and historical fiction to submit guest posts as well.  Here is our submission guideline for bloggers (created by Marie) that can also be read over at the blog:

Bloggers:
Would you like to submit an article or a post, or even a book review? Anything that is related to History is welcome. Share your creativity! Connect with other historical fiction lovers. Email us your idea of what you would like to post and when you would like it to post. We will respond back to you and discuss the details further with you via email. We will also take care of posting the content on to the site, all you would need to do is to email us your content, on a word document is the easiest.

If you would like to submit a book review, it may also be cross-posted on your own blog.

If this sounds like something you might be interested in doing, why not stop over at Historical Fiction Connection and take a look around.  You can read full submission details and obtain our submission email address HERE.

We are also currently hosting two giveaways at HF Connection.

Wickham's Diary by Amanda Grange (ends 4/23--click cover to enter)

and

Daughters of Rome by Kate Quinn (ends 4/26--click cover to enter)

Hope you will stop by and visit.  And if you enter the giveaways, good luck!

DECISIONS AND REVELATIONS

After much thinking and soul searching, I have made a major decision in regards to this blog.  I will no longer be accepting review copies from authors/publicists.  I do have one exception to this, which I will explain below.  My reasons for this are various and include the following:

  • I still have many titles left over from 2010 and have not been good about my goal to only accept a title per month in the new year.
  • My personal library numbers at 3000+ books (fiction and non-fiction) and I really want to be able to get to the great titles I already own.
  • Most importantly, I want/need more time to concentrate on my writing.  I want to get this first novel written, darn it!
Here is my new review policy which is located in my 'About' tab:

I am no longer accepting review copies for The True Book Addict except in rare cases and with the exception of historical fiction.  I will still accept historical fiction titles for review, especially titles set in medieval or ancient times.  My reasoning behind this distinction is due to my desire to establish this blog more prominently in the historical fiction niche.  Publicists and authors are welcome to contact me with review requests at truebookaddictATgmailDOTcom.  However, be advised that I will turn down a very high percentage of offers.

My one exception, as you read above, is historical fiction.  I'm still working on establishing this blog with a more historical focus, as my favorite genre is historical fiction.  By no means does this mean that HF will be the only genre I'll be reading.

I am committed to review books through June/July and hope by then I will be free to start reading from my HUGE library.  All review obligations will be completed as promised.  Also, I will still be participating in the book tour sites, Jennifer's Crazy Book Tours and Amy's (Passages to the Past) Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours.  Also, every two months, I will be reviewing a book and participating in an internet radio author chat with Angels and Warriors.com.  Finally, I will still be co-hosting/authoring the blog, Historical Fiction Connection, with Marie from The Burton Review.

Whew...what a relief! I really feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  How about you?  Are you thinking of making any changes in your blogging?

A FEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Intense Debate has gone the way of the dinosaurs, at least on this blog anyway.  Although I liked the ability to respond to comments from my email, I didn't like always having to attempt login three or four times before I could post a comment AND the periodic disappearance of the Intense Debate comment section and subsequent reappearance of blogger comments.  If this keeps happening, you might as well just stick with the blogger comment system, at least in my opinion.   I apologize for any confusion.

We are having a giveaway at the Historical Fiction Connection for Sins of the House of Borgia by Sarah Bower.  The giveaway ends on February 13 and is USA only.  Go HERE for details and entry.  Good luck!

Exciting news on the TuesBookTalk front! Our next read will be The Last Queen by C.W. Gortner! I have been wanting to read this book...like forever.  Our first discussion starts next Tuesday, February 15, at 10:30pm ET/9:30pm CT on Twitter (#tuesbooktalk).  The discussion schedule and weekly discussion threads can be found at our TuesBookTalk Goodreads group HERE.  I hope you will consider joining us!

Introducing...Historical Fiction Connection

Have you heard about the new blog, Historical Fiction Connection?  Marie at The Burton Review was kind enough to ask me to join her in starting this new site where ALL members of the Historical Fiction Community can come and post things such as book reviews, or new book release news, creative articles.. anything you can think of! A one stop shop of Historical Fiction bloggers and authors all being hosted on one site! This is a site where anyone can participate by emailing us their content. You send us your stuff, we'll do the technical part. How's that for some free and easy promotion?

Authors, you can email us your blurbs for either new or past book releases, along with exclusive short creative posts, and even a giveaway, if you are inclined.

OR

Bloggers can offer anything from new release spotlights, to book reviews, to interviews or fave author spotlights, to creative posts. You can even cross-post new material on your own blog as well.  Email us at the site's address or, my followers, if you feel more comfortable sharing with me directly, email me at my personal address.

Do you have something you would like to offer us? Please get in touch with us, and we can work out the details and if you have a specific day you would like to post it.  We can only make this successful if you want it to be! Think about it, and let us know!

Stop by and check us out.  We already have some great posts up (thanks to Marie, as I've been out of commission for almost a month)!
Hope to see you there!
