Happy Birthday to Joyce Carol Oates on June 16th! I have featured Ms. Oates several times because she is one of the authors most prolifically photographed with cats. She really must be a cat lover (of course she is. Why would she not? *wink*).

Joyce Carol Oates (June 16, 1938) is a recipient of the National Book Award and the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in Short Fiction. She is also the recipient of the 2005 Prix Femina for The Falls. She is the Roger S. Berlind Distinguished Professor of the Humanities at Princeton University, and she has been a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters since 1978. Pseudonyms ... Happy Birthday, Joyce Carol Oates! June 16 is the birthday of one of the biggest cat lover authors. Here is a video of Oates at the 2014 New Yorker Festival. She is reading a poem she wrote, An Ode to Cats. There's a screen at her back showing her beloved cat, Cherie, on which she based her children's book, Naughty Cherie, and who she mentions as her collaborator in her writing.
