My lucky Classics Club spin - #17 it is! All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy
The Classics Club spin...it's time again. Since they started doing this, I've only managed to succeed once with Wide Sargasso Sea on spin 5. We're supposed to challenge ourselves by choosing a mix of titles like 'books I can't wait to read, books I'm dreading, etc.' but since I have so much reading on my plate already for August and September, I'm just going to choose a list of 20 shorter books. We will see how this goes...
- The Lambs of London, Peter Ackroyd
- A Clockwork Orange, Anthony Burgess
- Moravagine, Blaise Cendrars
- The Devil and Miss Prym, Paulo Coelho
- The Collector, John Fowles
- The House of Seven Gables, Nathaniel Hawthorne
- Brave New World, Aldous Huxley
- What Maisie Knew, Henry James
- Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
- Slaughterhouse Five, Kurt Vonnegut
- Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton
- Orlando, Virginia Woolf
- The Plague, Albert Camus
- Howard's End, E.M. Forster
- The Sylph, Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire
- She, H. Rider Haggard
- All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy
- The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plateh
- Perfume, Patrick Suskind
- Brideshead Revisited, Evelyn Waugh
What's on your Classics Spin list?
I always love Wharton, so I'd have to vote for Ethan Frome. That said, Woolf is always good, but lately I've had a strong desire to read some of Camus' works.
ReplyDeleteFrom my list I hope I get either Camus' The Stranger, or Hamlet. But tomorrow will tell, won't it?
I hope you have a great spin, Michelle!
I love Frankenstein!
ReplyDeleteI'm not committing to anything for a bit with my Japan adventure on my plate but Slaughterhouse Five is on my list and Frankenstein! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with All the Pretty Horses. It's one I haven't read, so I will look forwrd to your review :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone who stopped by! If you're spinning, good luck with your #17. :)
