The second Cat Thursday of each month is Authors and their Cats Thursday. Each time I will feature an author and their cat(s).
John Paul Sartre with a friend
Jean-Paul Charles Aymard Sartre, normally known simply as Jean-Paul Sartre, was a French existentialist philosopher and pioneer, dramatist and screenwriter, novelist and critic. He was a leading figure in 20th century French philosophy.
He declined the award of the 1964 Nobel Prize in Literature "for his work which, rich in ideas and filled with the spirit of freedom and the quest for truth, has exerted a far-reaching influence on our age."
In the years around the time of his death, however, existentialism declined in French philosophy and was overtaken by structuralism, represented by Levi-Strauss and, one of Sartre's detractors, Michel Foucault. (from Goodreads)

The kitty looks a little like a cat I used to have, Trini. She passed away a couple of years ago from cancer :(
ReplyDeleteWe studied Satre at Uni when I was studying Language and Culture, and yet I never knew he was a cat person. Thanks for sharing that, and a cute kitty it is, too.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that was a Maine Coon. Highly resembles one anyway.

Look how comfortable the cat seems to be :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture :)
ReplyDeleteI love that post :) We end up working like that quite often with a kitty tucked in our arms :)
ReplyDeleteAww, I like that picture. If I tried to do that with my Spencer it would be a disaster.
