This feature was inspired by It's Monday! What are you reading? hosted by Sheila at Book Journey and also by The Sunday Salon.
Listening To: No audio books right now because the CD player doesn't work in mom's car and I don't want to listen to my CD player with headphones (driving hazard...eek) so I've been just listening to the radio and now I know why I like listening to audio books while driving. Radio is SO frustrating. I have three stations that I toggle between and it always seems they're on commercial at the same time. Ugh!
Book finished: Sadly, I have not finished a book yet in the new year. I am halfway done with Les Mis and almost finished with Persuasion. I still have to finish The Waste Lands by Stephen King and I have a review book for a post on Thursday. Help!
Reading: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, Persuasion by Jane Austen, The Waste Lands, The Forgotten Queen by D.L. Bogdan
On the Nightstand: Oh, I don't know! For sure, Dune by Frank Herbert. Oh yeah, The Shining by Stephen King and Crime and Punishment (read-a-longs).
Watching: Okay, is anyone else just completely pissed at "Downton Abbey"? Because I am! Rant over. I saw "Silver Linings Playbook" over the weekend. Outstanding film! It is definitely a must-see and I'm pretty sure we're going to have some OSCAR winners there. I also saw a free screening of "Warm Bodies" on Thursday. What a fun and sweet movie! I have such a crush on Nicholas Hault now (yeah, I know he's 20 years younger than me...lol). On TV, I'm loving "Ripper Street" on BBC America, "The Following" on FOX, and "Shakespeare Uncovered" on PBS.
Making: My nightly cooking is still going well. I think I mentioned that my older son is a picky eater. Well, he has liked the last several meals I've made so I consider that a win. Tonight I made something called Fast Food Mexican with Tamales, chili, cheese and onions. Not totally healthy, but it was delicious! Tomorrow, I'm making a crab casserole and sauteed broccoli so a little bit more healthy.
Grateful for: Everyone who participated in my read-a-thon last week. I have such lovely regulars and then had some awesome newbies this time. It was a success, as usual! Can't wait until Spring into Horror in April!
Looking forward to: Almost done getting my books shelved so I'm looking forward to that finally being finished. It has been a big job, but I did cull some of my non-fiction (self-help, decorating books, etc.). Three boxes worth! Yay! Also, just found out the Nyx and Vicky are hosting the Review Copy Clean-up again in February so I'm going to give that a shot again. Oh, and I'm hoping to do a few things during the Mini-Bloggiesta this weekend!
Picture: I saw this on Facebook last night and I just have to share it (from the Words to Inspire the Soul Facebook page)

ReplyDeleteI could not get into the first Persia Wooley book at all, I hope you have better luck!
Great finds at the sale, but LOL at the fact you are getting more books and your house is overflowing with them ;)
You are reading a great mix of books!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your thoughts on "Dune". It is an old favorite of mine.
I read Of Bees and Mist before I started blogging, and I think I liked it. I think you will like The Lantern more than I did, I won't go into it now, but once you read it, check out my review and see if you agreed or not.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Woman in Black, way more than the movie and I'm glad to see a Chelse Quinn Yarbro book on your list.
By the way, Dune is one of my favorite books.
Didn't see this past Sunday's Downton Abbey yet (apparently there's a death), but the week before I was thinking the same. Get with it already.
ReplyDeleteI am also loving Ripper Street. Took a while with the accent on the first show, but the second was wonderful. Also the Following is creepy good! I look forward to it every week. TV seems to be a bit boring lately so thank goodness for these shows.
What great books in your mailbox. I have read a few of them. ENJOY!!!

Silver's Reviews
My Mailbox Monday
I haven't started season 3 of Downton yet, so I'm glad you didn't give anything away. I'm sure I will be appropriately annoyed, though.
ReplyDeleteGlad the cooking is going well. My son is a very picky eater, too. He never grew out of it unfortunately.
I don't know how you get so much done. I am still struggling with my reading.
If not for listening to audio books while walking, I probably wouldn't be going through so many books. I'm working to change that though.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Downton Abbey, are you referring to season 1? I've been keeping up with it on Hulu. Can't wait for season 3! Thrilled about your thoughts on Silver Linings Playbook. Planning on seeing that tomorrow or Saturday!
