Roots came out in 1977 which was before I was born but I saw it playing in 97' when they showed it because it was the 20th anniversary. The only reason I wanted to see it was because I loved Star Trek and it starred LeVar Burton. It was amazing and I grabbed the book from the library and read it, then Alex Haley's Queen which lead me to my all time fave Gone with the Wind and it spiraled from there. I think I probably knew more than anyone else in my history class about the Civil War from doing further research on the events I was reading about in those books :)Hollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15819241852604884460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-78440678896921316512012-06-13T18:34:37.176-04:002012-06-13T18:34:37.176-04:00Great post! I watched it after I fell in love with Wallace's story, but it was still a huge boost that inspired me to write about him for the first time. Since, I have written five short stories and two novels (one published) and now I have another in the works. I'm not the kind of person who complains about something that makes people feel the way Braveheart did to me and other epic books and movies. No matter if they are truely accurate or not. (Though I'm going to nit pick just a tiny thing on your post because you said Wallace died in 1304 and it was 1305 ;)Hazel Westhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01234157921832851920noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-23978005956258920802012-06-13T12:25:53.260-04:002012-06-13T12:25:53.260-04:00Very thought-provoking post. (And I guess I finally need to see Braveheart...I was always afraid of the gore.)

vitajex(at)aol(dot)comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-26699491641117861202012-06-13T08:34:31.822-04:002012-06-13T08:34:31.822-04:00Thanks a million for allowing me to drop in at The...Thanks a million for allowing me to drop in at The True Book Addict and chat about the movie that inspired my love of history.
