I'm not really good at describing why I like a character (and I'm tired), but here goes:

1 - Mr. Darcy. Everyone loves him. He's an interesting character.
2 - Elizabeth Bennet. She knows what she wants and that she doesn't just want to marry a rich man for his money or estate.
3 - Georgiana Darcy. Although a minor character, she shows up in many Austenesque sequels. She's shy but I think she's nice and I like to learn about her in these sequels.

Most of the Austen sequels I have feature P & P characters.

I also like Captain Wentworth. Wouldn't it be nice to see him in his naval uniform? I do like Mr. Knightley, too.

catbooks72(at)gmail(dot)comMichelle F.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12177153343842684190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-44129478354780950422015-08-27T13:31:47.063-04:002015-08-27T13:31:47.063-04:00I was trying to find out how to be an Austen in Au...I was trying to find out how to be an Austen in August participant but it said you had to sign up by August 5? Kind of dumb if it excludes you from contests later on. I just like to enter contests. I've bought from Better World Books on Amazon. Sometimes there are books for a penny.Michelle F.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12177153343842684190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-84971169591238552772015-08-25T20:08:06.617-04:002015-08-25T20:08:06.617-04:00My three are:

Apologies if you get like half a dozen duplicates. *why internet, why?*

Ahem.

I've never heard of this bookseller. I've been looking for an alternative to Amazon- I'll have to give them a try!

My favorites I think have to be:

Mr. Darcy- not for the shallow reasons (okay, those to), but because at base I think he's actually really shy and people mistake it for dickishness, which I really relate to on a lot of levels.

Elinor Dashwood- because she has to be strong and hold everyone together but she's able to find true love in the end.

Catherine Morland- because she's a little bit silly but good-hearted. Also because, tbh, I just rewatched the movie and she's fresh in my mind :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00544251487108740226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-48556620641827977192015-08-25T11:54:40.832-04:002015-08-25T11:54:40.832-04:00In college I worked at the library and we used BWB...In college I worked at the library and we used BWB when we got rid of books so I'm fairly familiar with it. I've never gotten books from there though... what a great idea!
My favorite Austen characters??? Hard but doable!
Mr. Knightley- Because he is a true gentleman. He is always willing to give advice even if it is advice you don't want to hear. He's kind and self-sacrificing. He also has a sense of humor. Basically the perfect guy! ;)
Henry Tilney- Tilney is like a lighter version of Mr. Knightley for me. He gives great advice as well, even when it's hard advice. He's kind and endearing. He's a lot funnier though and the kind of guy you'd just want to be best friends with.
The Bennet family- Because I can't just chose one of their family members! I love Elizabeth because she is witty, kind and in the end willing to admit her faults. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet crack me up for different reasons such as their hilarious dialogue but also annoy me for various reasons (aka horrible parents!). Jane is sweet and never willing to see faults (which can be a fault in it of itself). Mary is Mary. Kitty and Lydia can make me laugh but in the end disgust me. Kitty though I see hope for and I always dreamed she would make progress and leave behind the influence of Lydia.
Email- legalois94@gmail.comLois Tinúvielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01113667315479652015noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-5035998640784556062015-08-25T11:23:28.187-04:002015-08-25T11:23:28.187-04:00Oops - forgot to add email address. lory [at] emer...Oops - forgot to add email address. lory [at] emeraldcitybookreview [dot] comLoryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08519976394732029323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-49963286734638533112015-08-25T10:57:01.666-04:002015-08-25T10:57:01.666-04:00Great idea! Henry Tilney - he's funny, charming and not a snob. Captain Wentworth - a really strong man is able to admit when he's made a mistake.Loryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08519976394732029323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-40052136171390535412015-08-25T10:01:22.241-04:002015-08-25T10:01:22.241-04:00I've never ordered from Better World Books, bu...I've never ordered from Better World Books, but I will in the future. Thanks for bringing this seller to my attention.
My favorite characters vary, too, based on which novel I am reading. My favorite will always be Anne Elliot because she is always kind. As I am currently re-reading Sense & Sensibility, I will pick Elinor and Colonel Brandon as my other two favorites. They both look out for others, even at their own expense.
Thanks for the giveaway!
TJ @ MyBookStrings (mybookstrings [at] gmail [dot] com)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9057271795590627394.post-46274042678923900142015-08-25T09:30:28.228-04:002015-08-25T09:30:28.228-04:00I've ordered from Better World Books! She's unworldly and naive. I can relate to her. I totally felt all her angst. And she loves books.
2.) Henry Tilney. He is a realistic romantic. He overlooks her flaws and mistakes and I just can't get over him secretly preparing that cottage!
3.) Elizabeth Bennett. I am more like Catherine but I want to be more like Lizzy. For example, if I need a laugh Mr Collins, Mr Elliot, and Mrs Bennet are always on the list. All time favorites however have to include Elizabeth Bennet because of her spunkiness, Anne Elliot because she has this calm sense of acceptness of all those people who demand too much of her and yet there are lines she won't cross, and finally Capt Wentworth because he will finally give Anne her own life which includes the support to tell Mary, Elizabeth, the Mr Elliots, et al that her life counts too.
theresamattina@gmail.comTheresa Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02522424755872764290noreply@blogger.com
