Dewey's 24 Hour #Readathon

Addendum: Opening survey at end of post

It's here again! I never do well, but I always participate because...well, you all know why. It's just what we do. This is the last two days of my Spring into Horror Readathon so I will be focusing on horror this time around. It is the genre that keeps me the most alert. I love the chills and thrills. 😨
I am going to try to participate longer than I have previously, but I will be going out to lunch and to a movie with Mom today (we're seeing The Circle). That's why I'm starting at the official start time...7:00am my time. I had planned to go to bed earlier last night, but...oh well.

Okay, so what I'm reading...not much of a stack, but I still have a lot of The Historian to read to finish it by Sunday night, but I probably won't focus on just it during this readathon. I'm a pretty slow reader anyway so I'm being pretty optimistic with these.

The Historian, Elizabeth Kostova
Graveminder, Melissa Marr
Exorcist Falls, Jonathan Janz
We Are Always Watching, Hunter Shea

I really went all out on the snacks this time. I wanted to cover all of the bases. I forgot to put my hot and spicy peanuts in the picture. As far as drinks go, I'll have coffee in the morning and then drink Crystal Light most of the time (lemonade). I may have a glass of wine too.

Well, I wish everyone luck. I created the button up top. Feel free to use it/share it. Also, if you're looking for some fun, check out my Cat Thursday post, The Stages of a 24 Hour Readathon.

Not sure if I'll post updates here, on Twitter (@truebookaddict), or on Facebook in the Seasons of Reading group. I'll just make that up as I go along. 😁

Happy Reading!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Nashville, Tennessee, USA
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
All πŸ˜‰
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Hershey's with Almonds...my favorite!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I've been book blogging for...it will be eight years in August. I'm mom to two teen boys and two cat daughters. I work from home. I write. I'm very active in the book blogging community. I host six readathons yearly via my blog Seasons of Reading. I host a plethora of reading challenges via my site, Gather Together and Read, and I run two Goodreads book clubs, TuesBookTalk and Lit Collective.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I want to read more this time! So, I will try to be less distracted and try to read faster.

#CatThursday - #Authors and #Cats (61) Karen Blixen (Isak Dinesen)

Welcome to the weekly meme that celebrates the wonders and sometime hilarity of cats! Join us by posting a favorite LOL cat pic you may have come across, famous cat art or even share with us pics of your own beloved cat(s). It's all for the love of cats! (share your post in the Mr. Linky below)

The second Cat Thursday of each month is Authors and Cats Thursday. Each time I will feature an author with their cat(s), or pictured with a cat(s).

In honor of her birthday on April 17, Karen Blixen is our author this month. She is most famously known for her book, Out of Africa, though she wrote many others.

Karen Christence Dinesen, Baroness Blixen-Finecke - wrote as Isak Dinesen, Pierre AndrΓ©zel, other pseudonyms: Tania Blixen, Osceola, etc. (April 17, 1885 - September 07, 1962)

A Danish writer, who mixed in her work supernatural elements, aestheticism, and erotic undertones with an aristocratic view of life, Blixen always emphasized that she was a storyteller in the traditional, oral sense of the word. She drew her inspiration from the Bible, the Arabian Nights, the works of Homer, the Icelandic Sagas, and the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, who was her great fellow countryman. She wrote in English and in Danish.

Baroness Karen Blixen was born in Rungsted, Denmark, into a well-to-do patrician family. She was the daughter of Ingeborg Westenholz Dinesen, and the writer and army officer Wilhelm Dinesen, whose adventuresome spirit and storytelling talents influenced deeply Blixen's imagination. She spent her childhood on the family estate in Rungsted. Throughout her life Blixen's outlook and manner were unabashedly aristocratic. (from Goodreads)
